Seriously, this happens at least twice a week. And if I try to speed up, they speed up with me.

Yeah, that shit drives me nuts. Every time it happens, I look in my mirror and see hundreds of feet of open space behind me.

People must forget that they can use the left (or middle) pedal to merge, too.

I don't usually get this, but it happens. One of the perks of driving a big truck is that people understand that, in the event of an accident, I win.

See, the joys of driving a lifted truck. Some asshole tries this shit in an eco box, they are risking life or death trying to force me to move when my tires are at door handle level.

People think twice about "bullying" you on the road when you drive something that can turn them into a pancake.

That's so frustrating, and it happens multiple times a day for me (I live in NYC) Also frustrating are the people who speed up to close a gap once I put my turn signal on, just to return to the pace they were previously traveling at.

That's technically a reduction of lanes... But yea, happens to me too. I'm also the type who will speed up if somebody with their signal on has the perfect chance to get in front of me and they just timidly waste that opportunity by taking too long to get over. I don't want to be behind a putz-ass.

I also love when people drive like they're in such a hurry. Then get to the front of the line at a red light with me right behind them. Then they take their sweet time once the light turns green.

For just 10 internet dollars I'll tell you how to keep this from happening to you ever again.

I will block someone only when there is no pre existing spot that they are at, and they don't blink or they ride the lane until the last second

This is actually a pyshological thing. Sort of like you don't want the other person to take advantage of you and you have to prove your man hood so you also speed up. Competition pretty much. Happens all the time to me, I just speed up instantly when I realize what they are trying to do. (intentionally or not intentionaly) I mean come on, if i'm going to merge into your lane I must be trying to go faster than you are. or get off the freeway. Of course there is the bitch pedal.

What drives me nuts in this snowy weather is people playing traffic cop, they'll sit in the left lane next to a slow moving car in the right lane, because they feel they are safe guarding human life... I just don't want to go 25 mph when I could be going 50+ to get the fuck home.

I also can't stand people that try to pass you just before the lanes join after which you are stuck behind them.

Another annoying thing is people that pass on the right in heavy traffic situations and get upset when you don't let them pass.

lol. well I dd a Jeep, so I could floor it and the prius would still be able to pass me as if I were standing still

Yeah I can pass most cars out there if I gas it early enough, unless its like a 5 series bmw or anything of the likes of and up.

This usually worked when I was in my F350:

Kinja'd!!!

But for whatever reason, when I am in my Jeep, people seem to not care, even though the 35's are eye level.

Exactly. If I were going 20 under, pass me, otherwise, stay behind me. If you are the only one behind me and there is no one in front of me, then why the hell are you just staying next to me.

even with big tires I think JK's are still viewed as little. I've seen lifted JK's on 37's that are barely higher than my bronco on 35's.

A F350 however, you can't argue with that in traffic unless you drive a box truck or bigger.

Once saw a guy (right in front of me) force a Michigan state trooper into a guard rail merging onto 75 N.

Living in Houston, you get constantly bullied by the lifted trucks. In the Mustang, I would challenge them to fuck with me. The result was usually in my favor unless you found a truck driver who was incredibly aggro.

Now driving a lifted truck, I'm more courteous, it's not like I'm faster than anyone.

Going down to maryland with a friend in my marauder I got in a scruff with a guy from arizona in a lifted cummins ram, full on lifted brodozer with ebay LED tail lights and everything. I think it even had truck nutz, but I can't remember 100%. He was ripping off of ever light, rolling coal allover the place, so eventually I got next to him and just dusted his ass 3 times. Well on the 3rd time a cop saw us and lit him up. I managed to escape.

I figure at a minimum he got hit with a careless driving and/or speeding ticket.

Luckily my car is cheap enough that I don't mind playing chicken with idiot people.

"Oh you want to crash into my $3000 car? In your new lexus? Bring it on."

I tend to do this with trucks too... which might not be too safe for me...

I'm more aggressive dealing with people in lifted trucks because it doesn't take much to flip one over. They will always back down. Plus, most of them spend all of their disposable income on it, and will never actually challenge you. Same with Mercedes and BMW. They'll be a jerk, right up until they realize you really aren't going to move.

A shiny bro truck on chrome wheels is a lot different from a big old dirty bronco. I'm not afraid of trading paint.

On the highway, there is no soft way to deal with a floater (that's what I call them)

As soon as someone pulls that the first time, don't speed up a little, don't slow down a little. It's either lock-em-up braking or foot-to-the-floor acceleration. Both of them will make the other guy go "gee what's this hoser's problem" and they'll usually go away.

It's almost as bad as people who try to help you by slowing down to let you over when you don't have your signal on (if I'm not signaling, I am not going to move,) or people trying to yield who have the right of way. Idiot, I'm slowing down because I DON'T want you to slow down and I have my entry point. In that case, it's lock up the brakes and watch them shoot by. So long as nobody is behind you.

People have some sort of herd mentality on the highway, whereas I am always seeking free space, whether that means I have to go slightly faster or slower than the crowd. Speeding to get away from a dangerous situation is safer than staying in the situation.
